Operator rental & shuttle. Kayaks require reservations. Inner-tube reservations are not required for groups smaller than 15; groups of 15 or more should reserve. Confirm the craft and trip before driving to McCaysville.

Check in at the Toccoa River center at 20 Hughes Street. On operating days, the operator shuttles guests upstream for the 1.5-mile trip; the float ends back at the center where vehicles are parked.
Season & current access
The operator's river overview lists Toccoa service from May through September. Its detailed trip page says operations are weather permitting, can close in bad weather and should be confirmed directly before travel.
Age, skill & route requirements
The detailed Toccoa page lists a minimum age of 5 with no exceptions. Participants sign a waiver, wear a securely fastened life jacket and use shoes that stay on the feet; flip-flops are not suitable. The operator says there are no safety personnel on the river.
The published route is 1.5 miles. The dam-controlled river can rise and speed up after a TVA release, so the operator estimates roughly 20 minutes in swift flow to 1.5 hours in normal flow. Participants must account for small rapids, rocks and changing depth; non-swimmers should not enter during high water.
Fit it into a wine weekend
Make the river the first major activity. Finish the shuttle-supported trip, return equipment, change, hydrate and eat before any Blue Ridge-area winery visit.
