For a wine-focused Saturday, make Mercier Orchards your morning stop and reserve the railway for Sunday. Check which fruit is available for picking, then have lunch before visiting the wineries.
Wine is always in the plan
After lunch, make Bear Claw Vineyards the anchor of your tasting day. Add Kerith House if the opening hours, journey and your group’s pace fit comfortably. Read the wine selections and visitor policies before reserving. This route works across the year when the venues are open; confirm the current schedule, arrange a sober driver and keep dinner unhurried.
One more local experience
Take a booked Blue Ridge Railway excursion. Choose the shorter express if departure day is tight; the longer journey includes time in McCaysville and Copperhill and should be treated as a substantial part of the day.
Keep the route comfortable
Use Blue Ridge as the base and map both winery drives from your actual cabin. Reserve a separate half-day for the railway rather than squeezing it between tastings.
Fall planning notes
Fall train tickets and well-located cabins can book early. If Fall Arts in the Park is your reason to visit, substitute it for the train or orchard rather than packing all three into one morning. The 2026 Tour of Trees now lists November 8 and 15, 2–5 p.m.; choose one Sunday session instead of the railway, not after a full excursion. Black Sheep’s weekend brunch is a separate 11 a.m.–3 p.m. meal booking.
