Choose Black Rock Mountain’s overlooks or a Foxfire visit as the morning’s main stop. Eat in Clayton, then spend the afternoon around the Tiger wineries.

After lunch, make Tiger Mountain Vineyards the anchor of your tasting day. Add Stonewall Creek Vineyards if the opening hours, journey and your group’s pace fit comfortably. Read the wine selections and visitor policies before reserving. This route works across the year when the venues are open; confirm the current schedule, arrange a sober driver and keep dinner unhurried.
One more local experience
Make Tallulah Gorge your departure-day outing. Check water-release dates first: they can be excellent for rim views but prevent gorge-floor hiking and climbing.
Keep the route comfortable
Build the tasting afternoon around Tiger. Visit Tallulah Gorge on the arrival or departure leg, and avoid adding remote forest-road vineyards to a tight schedule.
Fall planning notes
The Foxfire Mountaineer Festival is held at the Clayton Civic Center Pavilions in 2026, not the museum. Black Rock Mountain’s Ada-Hi Falls Trail was listed closed at review; choose another open area.
If the weather changes
Use Foxfire when suitable and verify its outdoor walking conditions, or stay with Clayton shops and seated tastings. Tallulah’s interpretive center can supplement a short rim visit.
