Choose a lodging base with straightforward access to town and make dinner your only fixed Friday plan. Reserve the intended Appalachian Outfitters craft and verify the Dahlonega check-in point before setting Saturday’s departure time.

Saturday morning

Start with the season

Take the six-mile beginner Chestatee canoe or kayak trip, or use the separate short tubing run during its Memorial Day–Labor Day season. Complete the river activity, shuttle and change of clothes before lunch and wine; scale back to one winery if the river morning runs long.

Saturday afternoon

Wine is always in the plan

After lunch, make Cavender Creek Vineyards the anchor of your tasting day. Add Wolf Mountain Vineyards if the opening hours, journey and your group’s pace fit comfortably. Read the wine selections and visitor policies before reserving. This route works across the year when the venues are open; confirm the current schedule, arrange a sober driver and keep dinner unhurried.

One more local experience

Browse the Gold Museum or take the Consolidated mine tour before heading home. This gives the weekend an indoor final stop after a day outdoors.

Keep the route comfortable

Base near Dahlonega and keep your tasting day north of town. Reserve any winery meal separately from a tasting; check age and pet policies for your group.

Summer planning notes

At normal water levels, the operator lists minimum ages of 5 for canoe/kayak and 4 for tubing. PFDs and protective footwear are required; call ahead for weather, river conditions and current operation. Never put a water activity after tastings.

If the weather changes

Use the Gold Museum in place of the river. Keep your meal and indoor tasting reservations, and follow the operator’s cancellation or rescheduling guidance.
